Along with all my other firsts on this trip, throw in wine tasting. Apparently tons of businesses set up shop in a parking lot here and have a wine tasting every once in a while. Yeah sure, we want some wine, why not? I’m not going to lie, I was actually kind of nervous. I had no idea what to do. I’ve seen people do it on movies—that’s good right? Swirl your glass around, taste it, spit it out? How hard could it be? Turns out, pretty hard. I should have watched someone else do it first. My first glass was a red wine that I swirled around, smelled and then I took a swig. I kept it in my mouth realizing—um, what now? I wasn’t about to spit it back in my glass. I don’t know if any of you know this, but holding your wine in your mouth isn’t exactly pleasant. I finally just drink it, albeit painfully, and the gentleman behind the booth laughs and asks me how it was. Well, it was awful, but how was I supposed to say that? I just kind of smiled, did a sort of thumbs up and walked away. Classy.
So, I wised up a bit and started watching everyone else. Apparently you just walk around drinking random glasses of wine all day. So, I guess everyone leaves the wine tasting tanked. But, I suppose that’s good for business because I saw several people buying multiple bottles of wine. As for me, the one glass of wine was enough for me and I instead bought some dried apricots, which were fantastic. I decided wine isn’t really for me…
You're too funny! You kept the wine in your mouth!? That sounds terrible and embarrassing, you little American.
